Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met business leaders in Qatar, and said, "India is a land of opportunity. I've come to personally invite you to take advantage of this opportunity." He assured them that his government will address any bottlenecks investors identify, reported NDTV.
Modi is set to hold a meeting with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani later on Sunday. He is in Qatar as part of his five-nation tour, which includes Afghanistan, Switzerland, the United States and Mexico. "Business First. For first engagement of the day, PM attends roundtable meeting with Qatari Business Leaders," External Affairs Minister Vikas Swarup said on Twitter.
Modi was received by his counterpart, Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the Doha airport on Saturday. His trip to Qatar follows a stop at Afghanistan, where he inaugurated the Salma Dam, which is dubbed the Afghan India friendship dam.
