Indian participants at the French Open had a good first day on Thursday as they all won their first round matches.
Top seeded Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis brushed past the Russian pair Daria Kasatkina and Alexandra Panova 7-6 (4) 6-2 in the women's doubles category. Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea also defeated the French team of Stephane Robert and Alexandre Sidorenko 6-2 6-2.
Leander Paes and his partner Marcin Matkowski had a tougher time but won their first round match 7-6 (3) 7-6 (8-6) against Belarus’ Aliaksandr Bury and Denis Istomin from Uzbekistan.
Mirza and Hingis will be looking to win the French Open and complete the non-calendar Slam, having already won the Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open earlier.
