Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja on Wednesday said "rapes happen daily" at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, ANI reported. Calling JNU "a hub of criminal activities", the MLA from Rajasthan said he stood by his previous statements on the university. In the midst of the uproar over the so-called "anti-national activities" at JNU in February, Ahuja had claimed that three thousand used condoms, five hundred used abortion injections, 10,000 cigarette butts and 50,000 pieces of bones were found on the university's campus every day.
On Wednesday, he also said, "The statues of members of the Nehru-Gandhi family should be brought down. Then people will spit on them." The party has not responded to Ahuja's claims.
