Royal Challengers captain Virat Kohli continued with his blistering form in the 2016 Indian Premier League, hitting his 10th half-century of the season to help his team beat Delhi Daredevils by six wickets at Raipur on Sunday. Bangalore restricted Delhi to a lowly 138/8 in 20 overs, before chasing it down with 11 balls in hand. The win took Bangalore through to second place and all the way through to the first qualifier, where they will face the Gujarat Lions for a spot in the final. Delhi, on the other hand, were knocked out.
After being asked to bat, Delhi never really got going, and lost wickets at regular intervals. Opener Quinton de Kock (60 off 52 balls) was the only batsman to get some runs, even as spinners Yuzvendra Chahal (3/32) and Chris Gayle (2/11) were among the wickets. Chris Morris (27 not out off 18 balls) played a late cameo towards the end to help Delhi above the 120-mark.
Bangalore stuttered early in the chase, losing Gayle and AB de Villiers within the first three overs. However, Kohli wasn't going anywhere. The Orange Cap holder struck a cool unbeaten 54 off 45 balls, sharing partnerships with KL Rahul (38 off 23 balls), Shane Watson (14 off 18 balls) and Stuart Binny (16 not out off 11 balls) to take his team past the finish line with 11 balls to spare.
