Olympic bronze medallist Mary Kom has failed to qualify for the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janiero in August, PTI reported. She lost the second round of the 51 kg category of the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in Astana on Saturday.
Kom needed to progress to the semi-finals to qualify but lost her second round match to Germany's Aziz Nimani. She had defeated Juliana Soderstrom 3-0 to win in the first round, .
India's Olympic hopefuls in the tournament now are Sarita Devi and Pooja Rani in the 60 kg and 75 kg categories. Both of them have made it to the second round.
