The Indian women's team finished with a bronze at the 2016 Uber Cup in Kunshan, China, after being defeated in the semi-finals by the hosts on Friday. This is India's second bronze at the tournament, with the last one coming in the 2014 edition.

The women's team had a great start at the tournament, sweeping past Australia and Germany 5-0 in their group stage encounters. After a 2-3 loss to Japan in their final group game, the team defeated Thailand 3-1 in the quarter-final match-up.

Predictably, India fell short in their semi-final clash against top seeds China, going down 3-0. Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and the doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Sikki Reddy Nelakurthi were all defeated, but India's semi-final finish is still a commendable achievement.

The Indian men's team had a dismal outing in the Thomas Cup, which is being held concurrently. They lost all their games in the group stage and were eliminated, going down 2-3 to Thailand, 2-3 to Hong Kong and 5-0 to Indonesia.
