Records tumbled at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday as a supercharged combined attack from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers took Royal Challengers Bangalore to 248/3, the second-highest score ever in the Indian Premier League against the Gujarat Lions.
Both Kohli and de Villiers scored swashbuckling centuries, the first time two centuries had been scored in a single innings in the IPL, and only the second time in all Twenty20 matches.
Kohli finished on 109 off just 55 balls, while AB de Villiers slammed 129 off 52 balls, the two putting on a 229-run partnership, the highest partnership in the history of T20 cricket. Kohli also became the first player to score three centuries in a single IPL season.
