A man’s body was found hanging from a tree near the Parliament complex in New Delhi on Thursday morning. Identified as Ram Dayal Verma from Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district, the 39-year-old allegedly committed suicide. His body was spotted hanging from a tree located between Rail Bhawan and Vijay Chowk at 7.15 am, police said.
A 23-page suicide note was recovered from his pocket, in which police found a list of local bookies, India Today reported. “It seems he had lost Rs 13 crore, and this was his second suicide attempt,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Jatin Narwal said, adding that Verma had reached Delhi on Wednesday night. An inquiry has been launched into the matter, and efforts to contact Verma’s relatives are on, PTI reported.
