Twenty-nine Indians who were evacuated from strife-torn Libya reached Kochi airport on Thursday morning. The Indians had asked to be taken out of the country after the death of an Indian nurse and her son in Sabratha in March. Many of them worked at Libya’s Zawiya Hospital in Sabratha city. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while campaigning in Kerala on Wednesday, had announced their return.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had confirmed the nurse Sunu Sathyan’s death in March and reiterated that Indians living in conflict zones abroad should return home.
