The Bihar police have issued an arrest warrant for former Janata Dal (United) MLC Manorama Devi for stashing liquor in her house even though alcohol is banned in the state, reported NDTV. Police also filed an FIR against her under the Child Labour Act, after a minor was found employed at her house, ANI reported.
Devi was suspended from the party on Tuesday, following allegations that she was trying to protect her son Rocky Yadav from being implicated in the death of a 19-year-old on May 8. Police arrested him on Tuesday and sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
"We found liquor bottles in Manorama Devi's house. An FIR was already registered that night, and now we are adding Manorama Devi's name to it. We will complete all formalities, including her arrest," senior police officer Naiyar Husnain Khan said. Devi has been unreachable since last night, and police have sealed her house.
