The largest manufacturer of Apple’s iPhones, Foxconn, is set to establish a plant in Maharashtra to manufacture the device, ET Now reported. Foxconn is reportedly in talks with the Indian government about the project, which is slated to cost the firm $10 billion (nearly Rs 67,000 crore). The project is likely to take 18 months, ET Now quoted company officials as saying.
Foxconn is on the lookout for a 1,200-acre plot to set up the manufacturing plant, the report said, adding that they had found two to three such locations. While several other states had also been looking to bag the contract with the Apple iPhone-maker, Foxconn and the Centre have zeroed in on Maharashtra, and the deal is close to being finalised, the report added.
