Buoyed by a strong bowling performance, the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday defeated the Gujarat Lions by five wickets in an Indian Premier League match held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The Sunrisers chased down Gujarat’s 126/6 by five wickets.
The Gujarat Lions floundered to a below-par 126/6 after underwhelming performances from their power-packed top order. Australian Aaron Finch was the only player to cross 20 as he added some respectability to the innings, finishing with an unbeaten 42-ball 51. Yet again, Hyderabad’s Mustafizur Rahman shone as the leader of the team’s bowling pack, picking up an impressive 2/17 in his four overs.
While Hyderabad stumbled in their chase, losing three top-order wickets quickly, Shikhar Dhawan kept a calm head to anchor the chase, despite the fall of wickets at the other end. He finished with a 40-ball 47 as Hyderabad got home by five wickets.
