Seven Indian badminton players officially qualified for the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janiero in August. The Badminton World Federation released its latest world rankings on Thursday.
Kidambi Srikanth qualified in the men's singles category, while both Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu qualified in the women's singles category. Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy made the cut from the men's doubles category, while Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnapa made it from the women's doubles category.
The seven qualifications are a jump from the 2012 Olympics in London, for which five Indian shuttlers managed to make the cut. Nehwal won a bronze medal at the event.
