Petrol and diesel prices were hiked on Saturday night based on international cues and the rupee-dollar exchanged rate. From Sunday, a litre of petrol will cost Rs 62.19 In Delhi, as against Rs 61.13 earlier, said the Indian Oil Corporation. Similarly, diesel will now cost Rs 50.95 instead of Rs 48.01 in the national capital. The last time fuel prices were changed was on April 16, when petrol became Rs 0.74 a litre cheaper and diesel prices were cut by Rs 1.30 a litre.
According to PTI, the result of changing international prices of petrol and a fluctuating dollar value is being passed on to the consumers. "The movement of prices in the international oil market and the rupee-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes," an official from the IOC said.
