Indian archer Deepika Kumari equalled the world record in the woman's recurve event at the Archery World Cup in Shanghai on Wednesday. The 21-year-old's score of 686/720 equalled the record-breaking score of 686/720 set by South Korean archer Ki Bo-Bae in 2015.
Kumari, who received the Padma Shri this year, has previously won silver medals in individual events in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions of the Archery World Cup. She also won gold in both the individual and the team recurve events at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and a team bronze at the 2010 Asian Games.
Kumari has already qualified for the upcoming Rio Olympics with her performances at the World Championships in Copenhagen last year.
