Pope Francis on Sunday said happiness is not an app that can be downloaded. The 79-year-old pontiff was addressing 70,000 youngsters who had gathered in St Peter's Square, Vatican City, for a three-day celebration of teenagers on Sunday, reported The Guardian. “Your happiness has no price. It cannot be bought. It is not an app that you can download on your phones, nor will the latest update bring you freedom and grandeur in love,” he said during mass. The festival is part of the Vatican's year of mercy.

Speaking of the travails of adolescence, the pope advised the smartphone generation to rise above material bliss that entertainment, fashion and technology have to offer and seek the real treasures in life that lie within, and often beyond network coverage. “Don’t believe those who would distract you from the real treasure, which you are, by telling you that life is beautiful only if you have many possessions,” he said.
