India's Sandeep Tomar qualified for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero by securing a bronze in the freestyle 57 kg category at the World Qualifying Tournament in Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia on Sunday. Tomar defeated his opponent Alexandru Chirtoaca 10-0 in the face-off to decide the bronze medal winner.
Tomar (25) is from Sonepat in Haryana and has previously won gold medals at the 2016 Asian Wrestling Championships and the 2013 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship. He is the third Indian freestyle wrestler to qualify for the Olympics after Yogeshwar Dutt in the 65 kg category and Narsingh Pancham Yadav in the 74 kg category.
