A youth was seriously injured on Saturday when two groups of students of Pune's Garware College clashed over someone changing the subject line on a WhatsApp group, reported Hindustan Times. The fight, which took place on the college campus, left four others injured as well. A student registered a formal complaint with the police on Sunday.
The complainant, Sanket Salunke, 22, said his friend Dinkar had changed the group name to his name as it was his birthday. However, another person changed it again which infuriated Salunke's friends and a dispute ensued. “When they confronted each other the next day in college, the accused student along with his other friends attacked the complainant and his other four friends in which Dinkar sustained grave injuries as he was attacked with a wooden object and weapons,” police said. A case has been registered against 22 youths, and police have arrested five in connection to the incident.
