Sunrisers Hyderabad posted their third win on the trot in the 2016 Indian Premier League, defeating Kings XI Punjab by five wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday. Hyderabad chased down Kings XI Punjab's underwhelming total of 143/6 with 13 deliveries in hand.
Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman was the star of Hyderabad's bowling performance, starting off with a maiden and ensuring the batsmen could hardly get any runs off him. He conceded only nine runs for two wickets in his four overs. Moises Henriques also picked up two wickets for the home team as Punjab were restricted to only 143/6, Shaun Marsh top-scoring with 40.
Hyderabad looked relatively untroubled in their chase, with Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner putting on a swashbuckling 90-run opening partnership. Warner scored 59 off 31 balls and Dhawan played a supporting role, hitting 45 off 44 balls. However, both of them were dismissed and Hyderabad suffered a mini-collapse, losing five wickets for 49 runs, but managed to sneak through past the finish line in the end.
