Four bombs were found in a car meant to pick up election officials in West Bengal's Malda district on Saturday. The driver spotted the explosives kept in a polythene bag under his car seat, right before he was going to start the vehicle, which was parked in the compound of a central school serving as an office where electronic voting machines were kept for use in the second phase of the state Assembly polls scheduled for Sunday.

A bomb squad arrived shortly after they were alerted and took the bag away, PTI reported. Additional District Magistrate (General) Debotosh Dutta confirmed the incident said he was headed to the location. Several drivers reportedly refused to work after the incident and demanded adequate security, as a result of which movement of polling personnel at the office was halted.
