Maharashtra's Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse on Saturday said he will look into allegations that thousands of litres of water were wasted on a makeshift helipad in Belkund village, 40 km from Latur, where his helicopter landed on Friday. The minister had gone to the district to review the drought situation, reported dna.
"I'm not aware of 10,000 litres water being used (for the helipad). If it's true, I'll look into it. I'm of the belief that not a single drop of water should be wasted, it should only be used where required," Khadse told ANI. He said that looking at the dust at the helipad during his arrival and departure, he did not think that such a large quantity of water was used there. Latur is one of the worst-affected districts in the Marathwada region, which is facing a severe water crisis. Trains bearing thousands of litres of water have been sent to the district.
