Mumbai Indians shrugged off their opening loss to the Rising Pune Supergiants in the Indian Premier League 2016, chasing down 188 against the Kolkata Knight Riders with six wickets in hand in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Kolkata's imposing total was built on two good knocks from captain Gautam Gambhir (64 off 52 balls) and Manish Pandey (52 off 29 balls). Andre Russell hit four sixes towards the end to help them finish on 187/5, with Mitchell McClenaghan being the pick of Mumbai's bowlers, picking up 2/25.
Mumbai started off strongly and were in control of the chase all along. Rohit Sharma anchored the innings beautifully, scoring an unbeaten 84 off just 54 balls, while McClenaghan (20 off eight) and Jos Buttler (41 off 22) also played brilliant cameos to help Mumbai gun down the target and get their first points this season.
