National Investigation Agency officer Tanzil Ahmed's wife Farzana Khatoon, who was shot in the same attack that killed him, died in Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Wednesday, ANI reported. While she was primarily treated for gunshot injuries, she had sepsis when she was brought to the hospital, the public relations officer of AIIMS said.
The Uttar Pradesh Police also announced the arrests of two more men, named Rizwan and Tanzim, on charges of conspiracy and abetment to murder. This took the number of arrests to four. On Tuesday, the police had announced they had solved Ahmed's murder case after saying they had arrested two people. Police said they believed a family dispute involving a share in a property deal was the motive behind the crime.
Motorcycle-borne assailants had shot at Ahmed 24 times, and pumped four bullets into his wife. The couple was returning from a wedding reception with their children on April 2 when they were targeted. Farzana had been in critical condition since the shooting.
