Two special knocks from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers took Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Bengaluru on Tuesday. RCB put up 227/4 in their 20 overs, with Hyderabad falling short by 45 runs.
Chris Gayle was dismissed cheaply, but the Kohli-de Villiers show took over the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Both of them played brilliant knocks (Kohli 75 off 51 balls, de Villiers 82 off 42), before Sarfaraz Khan chipped in with a late cameo (35 off 10 balls) to take RCB to an imposing total. Mustafizur Rahman for Hyderabad put in a standout performance though, conceding only 26 off his four overs with two key wickets.
Hyderabad's hopes rested on their opening duo of Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner, but the Indian continued his bad run of form, bowled for just eight. Warner kept Hyderabad in the hunt with a 25-ball 58, but his dismissal triggered a collapse from which they never recovered, going down by 45 runs.
