A Delhi court on Monday did not grant bail to Aam Aadmi Sena general secretary Ved Prakash, who threw a shoe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a press conference on Saturday. Kejriwal was holding a press conference on the second phase of the odd-even vehicle policy that will come into effect on April 15. Prakash was sent to 14-day judicial custody by Metropolitan Magistrate Abhilash Malhotra, who said “a strong deterrant is needed for such acts”.
Prakash said he had done a sting operation on a CNG distribution scam and had informed the Delhi government, who had not taken action on it. Prakash had also reportedly thrown a CD of the sting operation at Kejriwal the same day. He was beaten by Aam Aadmi Party workers before he was detained by Delhi Police, PTI reported.
In January this year, another Aam Aadmi Sena member Bhawna Arora threw ink at the chief minister during an event celebrating the end of the first phase of the odd-even policy. She also alleged that the state government was running a CNG sticker scam, but was granted bail after the incident.
