Two teenaged boys were arrested in Delhi on Friday for shooting an Uber driver dead. The driver, identified only as Kuldeep, was gunned down on Wednesday after he got into an altercation with the two passengers. Delhi Police said the incident took place on an isolated road in the Najafgarh neighbourhood of Southwest Delhi, NDTV reported.
The police tracked down the accused by accessing Uber’s data and are now questioning them. The two teenagers reportedly shot the driver in his head and chest, and then fled the scene. A passer-by notified the police after spotting the abandoned car with blood streaming out of it.
After reports on the incident came to light, General Manager of Uber North India Gagan Bhatia released a statement, saying, “Our thoughts are with the family of our driver-partner, the victim of this mindless violence.” He added that Uber had shared details with the police to assist them with the investigation.Limited-time offer: Big stories, small price.
