At least one person has been killed and 20 others injured in a blast caused by an improvised explosive device, or IED, near a police station in Dudhnoi in Assam's Goalpara district on Monday. Times Now reported that the person killed was a policeman. ANI reported that three policemen were among the injured, according to the Assam additional director general of police, who was not named. The senior police official told the news agency that the explosive device was kept inside a dustbin.
The blast took place on the day of polling in the first phase of the Assam elections. According to reports, the site of the blast was also close to the local office of the Bharatiya Janata Party. It isn't clear yet who was behind the attack.
