Yoga guru Ramdev on Sunday said he would have cut off the heads of all those who refuse to say "Bharat Mata ki Jai" if the country's laws didn't stop him from doing so, reported The Indian Express. Addressing a Sadbhavna rally organised by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Haryana's Rohtak, he said any religion that says it doesn't respect the motherland is not in the interest of the country.
He said chanting the patriotic slogan, which many see as having religious overtones, is not an act related to a particular religion, but a matter of national honour, pride and prestige. "We may be Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christians, but we are Indians first," he said. Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvra was present at the gathering, among others.
