Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said his government will provide compensation to farmers who have lost their crop due to hailstorm and unseasonal rain in the national capital, reported PTI. Kejriwal said the relief will be provided later this year, after the Divisional Commissioner submits an assessment report.
A senior government official said the quantum of compensation will be decided on the basis of the report. Kejriwal made the announcement while addressing a 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' in north-west Delhi's Kanjhawala area. In 2015, the Delhi government had given Rs 50,000 per hectare/ Rs 20,000 per acre to distressed farmers in the region.
