Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday failed to appear up before a commission investigating the Robert Vadra land deals. This is Hooda's second no-show in a row. The Justice SN Dhingra Commission, which is inquiring into various transactions in Gurgaon involving Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Vadra, said it would draw “adverse inference” from Hooda’s absence, The Indian Express reported.
The commission had summoned Hooda on March 17 as he had headed the Department of Town and Country Planning when the deals were made. Vadra allegedly bought large tracts of land at cheap rates and then sold them to real estate major DLF soon after for much higher sums. A team of lawyers made an appearance before the commission on Friday, but Justice Dhingra said they had misinterpreted the order and insisted that Hooda needed to appear himself.
