Technology giant Apple on Sunday unveiled the iPhone SE on Monday at a media conference in Cupertino, San Francisco. NDTV reported that the phone will cost Rs 39,000 when it launches in India in April. It sports a 4-inch display and comes with a fingerprint scanner and the A9 processor. In the United States, it has been priced at $399, and is considered the cheapest iPhone yet.
According to The Indian Express, the phone replaces the iPhone 5S and has many similar features, though it comes with an up-to-date processor that can be found in the 6S. It will have the live camera feature of the 6S, but no 3D touch. The battery life is the same as the 5S.
Apple hopes the phone will help it capture the India and China markets, FirstPost reported. The 4-inch display, the company believes, will be a hit with first-time smartphone buyers. The price point may be a problem in India though, with most smartphones here often costing less than a third of what the SE will sell for.
