The 15-year-old girl from Noida who was admitted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital after being raped and set ablaze died on Wednesday, CNN-IBN reported. The minor was in extremely critical condition when she was brought to the hospital with 95% burn injuries. A senior doctor had said that besides her face and head, her entire body was charred, and that controlling infection was the biggest challenge. Another doctor had said she had already started showing signs of septicaemia on Tuesday.
Police said the girl’s family heard her screaming for help from their terrace around 2.30 am on Monday, and found her on fire. The Class 10 student had dropped out of school last year after the 20-year-old man allegedly stalked and harassed her. Her parents had asked her to stop going for tuition classes and stay at home when he continued to do so. Bhagwan Swarup, Inspector General of Law and Order in Greater Noida, told ANI that the accused was arrested on Wednesday.
