The Patna Pirates defeated defending champions U Mumba of Mumbai to win the 2016 Pro Kabaddi League on Saturday. In a thrilling encounter, the Pirates won by only three points, with the final score reading 31-28.
Playing in their third final of the league, U Mumba got off to a bad start and were trailing 11-19 at half-time. The Pirates extended their lead further, making the score 22-13, before Mumba made a late comeback and brought it to 28-28. However, Patna pulled off a late heist to take the game and the title.
Earlier, the Puneri Paltan had defeated the Bengal Warriors 31-27 in the playoff for third place.
