India chased down a target of 139 to beat Sri Lanka in their Asia Cup encounter in Dhaka on Tuesday and booked a spot in the final. Virat Kohli led yet another successful chase, remaining not out on 56 off 47 balls as India won by five wickets with four balls to spare.
Earlier in the match, Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah opened the bowling for India and ensured that Sri Lanka were kept in check. Wickets were taken at regular intervals and only a late surge allowed Sri Lanka to finish on 138/8 in their 20 overs. Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Ravichandran Ashwin got two wickets apiece.
India lost Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma cheaply in their chase before Kohli and Suresh Raina took the team out of trouble. Once Raina departed, Sri Lanka thought they had a chance, but Yuvraj Singh played a commanding innings, smashing three huge sixes in an 18-ball 35 to put the game in India's hands. Singh perished with India 18 runs away from victory and Pandya followed soon after, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kohli ensured there were no more hiccups.
