Protestors allegedly belonging to the Akali Dal pelted stones at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s car in Ludhiana on Monday. The windshield of the vehicle was shattered in the attack, but Kejriwal escaped unhurt. The Aam Aadmi Party said it was an “orchestrated attack”, adding that the police did nothing to stop the protestors and merely stood by, PTI reported.
Activists of the Akali Dal and Danga Peedit Association were protesting against the Delhi chief minister outside the venue where the AAP was holding a function, a spokesperson for the police said. The official added that the police had arranged for Kejriwal to leave from the rear exit to avoid the agitators, but were not successful in giving them the slip.
Kejriwal lodged a strong protest with Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Harcharan Singh Brar, who was present at the venue. The AAP chief was in Ludhiana for the last day of his five-day tour of Punjab to campaign for his party ahead of 2017 Assembly polls in the state.
