Six militants, including a Pakistani member of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit, were arrested on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir for their involvement in an attack on an Indian Army camp in the Tangdhar sector on November 25 last year. A police official said security forces had discovered a militant module in the Baramulla district in north Jammu and Kashmir, PTI reported. He added that they had launched a manhunt after receiving a tip-off about a Pakistani terrorist being in the area. The officer identified the JeM member as Mohammad Sidiq, alias Shahd, who is a resident of Sialkot, Pakistan, reported PTI.
During interrogation, Shahd confessed to the police that he was part of the JeM suicide squad that had attacked the army camp near the Line of Control in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district. Three militants and a civilian were killed in the incident. Shahd said he was supposed to carry out further attacks in the state with other JeM members. According to the police official, Shahd was creating a base to carry out terrorist activities in Kashmir.
Security forces recovered one AK-47 rifle, five AK magazines, 150 AK rounds, six grenades and a wireless set from the militants. The five others arrested were identified as Suhail Arif, Rasshid Rasool Bhat, Javaid Ahmad Dhobi, Farhan Fayaz and Ehsan Fayaz.
