Uttar Pradesh recorded the maximum number of incidents of communal violence and killings in the country last year, the Ministry of Home Affairs informed the Parliament on Wednesday. Uttar Pradesh was followed by Bihar and Maharashtra, according to data shared by Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, in the Rajya Sabha.
According to the data, as many as 155 incidents of communal violence took place in Uttar Pradesh last year, in which 22 people were killed and 419 injured. In Bihar, 20 people were killed and 282 injured in 71 such incidents. Maharashtra recorded 14 deaths and 323 injured people in 105 such incidents, reported PTI. These states were followed by Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka.
