Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump won the Nevada caucuses on Wednesday, defeating senators Mario Rubio and Ted Cruz with nearly twice their numbers. Rubio and Cruz are in a tight race for second place. This is the controversial candidate’s third consecutive win – Trump swept the South Carolina Republican primary last week and the New Hampshire primary before that – which further strengthens his status as the frontrunner among the Republicans.
Trump and Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton are both in strong positions to be the 2016 election presidential candidates. Public anger over the current political establishment is evident in the ongoing race, which has left more traditional candidates struggling to find their footing but seemingly welcomed the likes of Trump and Bernie Sanders. The Democratic face-off will be held in South Carolina on February 27.
