A book written by the brother of Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar claims that Jesus Christ was a "Vishwakarma Brahmin", or a Tamil Brahmin, by birth. Ganesh Savarkar's book Christ Parichay, which is being re-launched 70 years after it was first published in 1946, also claims that Christ died in Kashmir and Christianity was a sect of Hinduism.
Here are some of the other claims made in the book:
- Christ’s real name was Keshao Krishna. His mother tongue was Tamil and he had a dark complexion.
- The present-day Palestinian and Arab territories were Hindu land. Christ travelled to India, where he learnt yoga.
- People from the Essene cult rescued the crucified Christ and revived him with medicinal plants and herbs from the Himalayas.
- Christ attained samadhi in Kashmir. Samadhi is the highest stage in Hindu meditation.
The Marathi book is being relaunched by the Savarkar National Memorial, a trust that preserves and propagates the Savarkar brothers’ literature and ideology, reported PTI.
