The encounter between terrorists and security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore district ended on Monday, more than two days after it started. The Central Reserve Police Force personnel recovered the bodies of three militants who were earlier holed up in the multi-storey government building of Entrepreneurship Development Institute along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway since Saturday afternoon. One civilian, two army captains, an army soldier, and two CRPF personnel have also been killed in the encounter.

A combing operation was underway to sanitise the EDI building, which had more than 100 people inside it when militants forced their way into it on Saturday. The encounter began when a CRPF convoy was attacked on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway. A police official said the terrorists appeared to be foreigners from "across the border". Director General of CRPF, Prakash Mishra, told PTI that the Lashker-e-Taiba terror outfit appeared to be behind the strike. He added that "war-like" stores, including a large quantity of arms and ammunition, were recovered from the site.
