At least 10 Indian sailors were rescued from pirates in Ivory Coast on Sunday, but another Indian and a Pakistani crew member are still captive. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said pirates had hijacked their ship – Indian bulk carrier Genco Maximus – off the coast of the west African country on February 13. There were 11 Indian crew members on board the vessel.

Swaraj said on Twitter that they had rescued the 10 Indian sailors with the help of the Nigerian Navy. “On our request, the ship was followed by Ghana and [the] Nigerian Navy,” she said. The minister confirmed that efforts were being made to rescue the remaining Indian and Pakistani crew member from the pirates, The Indian Express reported.
