A 28-year-old groom was killed in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday when members of his wedding party fired their guns in celebration. PTI reported that Amit Rastogi was struck on his head by a stray bullet and fell unconscious. He was rushed to a trauma centre in Lucknow, but was declared dead on arrival.
The incident comes soon after an eight-year-old was killed in celebratory firing by Samajwadi Party workers in Shamli. After the boy’s death, the party banned celebratory firing in the state. However, a day after the ban, a 14-year-old died in celebratory gunfire at a wedding function.
