A worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Kerala, PV Sujith, was hacked to death late on Monday night. Bharatiya Janata Party members in the state have blamed the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for Sujith’s death, and alleged their involvement in the attack. However, the Left has denied any involvement.
Hindustan Times reported that the BJP called for a strike in the district following the 27-year-old’s death. The police have detained eight people for the murder and said they are questioning the suspects. The police also increased security in the area on Tuesday.
Sujith was attacked at his home in the Kannur district. His mother and brother suffered injuries when they tried to stop the assault. Sujith was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
