India comprehensively defeated Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the third and final Twenty20 International at Vizag on Sunday to win the three-match series 2-1. Batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for only 82, which India chased down easily with nine wickets to spare.
Ravichandran Ashwin had a stellar evening, picking up two wickets in the very first over of the match to leave Sri Lanka wobbling. He finished with 4-8 in his four overs, the best ever performance by an Indian bowler in a Twenty20 International. Only two Sri Lankan batsman managed to get into double figures, while Suresh Raina chipped in at the end with 2-6 in two overs.
India wrapped up the chase easily, losing only Rohit Sharma on the way. Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane ensured there were no hiccups, as India won with 37 balls to spare.
