Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday held a live phone-in public interaction session to mark his government's first year in office, reported IANS. Announcing new schemes for Delhi residents, Kejriwal said that the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to waive off water bills of households pending till November 2015, either partly or fully.
While the economically weaker sections of society will get a full waiver up to November 30, others will enjoy concessions of 25–75% depending on their economic category, the report said. Water minister Kapil Mishra said the Delhi Jal Board is facing a huge backlog on unpaid water bills as many people stopped paying their bills after receiving an inflated bill.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also said that the Delhi government will spend 25% of its annual budget on education. He said that training programmes, infrastructure and international collaborations to improve primary-level education will be of high priority in the 2016 budget, which is scheduled to be presented in March.
