Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was questioned by the Delhi Police for five hours on Saturday in connection with the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar, ANI reported. Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said they sought a clarification from Tharoor "wherever required" and will analyse his statements. Tharoor reportedly reiterated throughout the interrogation that he does not suspect foul play in Pushkar's death, claiming that she died after overdosing on medication, according to India Today.

Last month, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences said Pushkar died after overdosing on an anti-anxiety drug. An AIIMS medical board sent a report to the Delhi Police that reaffirmed the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s conclusion that the businesswoman did not die of poisoning from polonium or any other radioactive substance. Her visceral samples were sent to the United States for testing after a post-mortem examination had found traces of radioactive isotopes in her body.

Pushkar’s death in a five-star hotel in Delhi in January 2014 has been shrouded in mystery. The Delhi Police is likely to continue investigating the possibility of it being a suicide.
