The Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Saturday announced that the parties will form an alliance to fight the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly polls in the state, reported The Hindu. After meeting DMK chief M Karunanidhi, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the main objective of the alliance is to ensure a DMK-led government in the state.
He added that the DMK will identify other potential allies for a bigger coalition. He brushed aside questions on the possibility of a coalition government after the elections, saying that they are "small things". The Congress leader said that the party is still in talks with the DMK to finalise numbers on seat sharing.
