Even as Jharkhand Vishwa Hindu Parishad decided to skip its usual moral policing on Valentine's Day this year, a district unit of its youth wing Bajrang Dal announced on Friday that it will marry off any couple caught celebrating on February 14, reported the Hindustan Times. The outfit said that it will have mandaps ready and "10 raiding teams" in Ramgarh for the purpose. The cost of the marriage will be borne by the group. Senior VHP functionary in Jharkhan said, “This is an independent decision of the Ramgarh Bajrang Dal. Though we morally oppose vulgar shows on Valentine Day, this year we will not take to the streets to protest holding of the day."

The announcement comes two days after the Times of India reported that the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bajrang Dal on Thursday said that the group will refrain from protests and moral policing on Valentine's Day this year. In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena youth wing chief Aaditya Thackeray also said that the party cadre will not misbehave with couples celebrating Valentine's Day this year. The Huffington Post reported that the Yuva Sena will instead set up a selfie point decorated with heart-shaped balloons for couples in Mumbai on the day.
