The United Arab Emirates has created new state minister positions for happiness and tolerance in a cabinet reshuffle. Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also serves as the ruler of Dubai, tweeted about the development after World Government Summit on Monday.
He did not divulge details of what the daily duties of either minister would be, but said the Minister of State for Happiness "will align and drive government policy to create social good and satisfaction", while the Minister of State for Tolerance will "promote tolerance as a fundamental value in UAE society". Sheikh Mohammed also announced that some government services will be privatised and certain government ministries will be merged in the oil-rich country, reported AP.
In a series of tweets sent out after the summit, the 66-year-old ruler said, "It is a beginning of a new journey of achievement and giving to the people and we ask Allah to help us to serve and take care of them."
