The Indian team entered their fifth Under-19 World Cup final, defeating Sri Lanka by 97 runs in the semi-final at Dhaka on Tuesday. India will meet either hosts Bangladesh or West Indies in the final on Sunday.

India had been impressive throughout the tournament, but had a tough start to the game against Sri Lanka, losing two quick wickets after being put in to bat first on an overcast morning. Anmolpreet Singh and Sarfaraz Khan then repaired the damage, both scoring half-centuries. Khan's 59 off 71 balls was his fourth fifty-plus score in five innings in the tournament. There were also a string of cameos from the lower order that allowed India to finish at a respectable 267-7.

In reply, Sri Lanka hardly got going, losing early wickets to find themselves at 47-3. Apart from a hard-fought 39 from Kamindu Mendis and 38 from Shamu Ashan, they perished for 170, handing India a comprehensive victory. Left-arm spinner Mayank Dagar was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking 3-21 in 5.4 overs.
